hi Gregg,
the shake problem seems to have been generated by one of our server playing tricks. so far it has been working fine.

Sounds weird -- glad you sorted that out.

we now have a problem trying to generate an mi file with maya7 instead of 6.5.

	Hmm, not sure.

Are you able to export the MI files manually from Maya 7 for this scene,
	then render them with submit-mray?

Yes, it seems like Maya is failing to generate the .mi files,
even though those messages appear to only be warnings:

[..several messages snipped..]
Info: (Mayatomr.Nodes) : place2dTexture1.vertexUvOne: unsupported type of connection, current plug value used instead
Info: (Mayatomr.Nodes) : place2dTexture1.vertexUvTwo: unsupported type of connection, current plug value used instead

Prog: (Mayatomr.Scene) : DAG node: pPlane2
Prog: (Mayatomr.Scene) : DAG node: pCube3

[..]

One thing you might want to check is this fix for submit-maya.pl
to render sucessfully with submit-maya + Maya 7.0 + standalone mentalray:

Not sure if that's the cause of your troubles, though.
