We are testing maya7.0.1 here and when we submit a job rush doesn't sense when the job has complete and continues as if in batch mode. Looking at the logs it appears that none of the options sent to the maytabatch in the temp mel file (foo.mel) are being followed. It appears that mentalray is behaving in the default way. We are able to render maya scenes fine, the problem only happens with mentalray scenes. I read that there where mel changes in maya7.
