Does anybody know the syntax to specify more than one render layer in maya? The help seems to indicate it's possible:

  -rl boolean|name(s)   Render each render layer separately

but I can only successfully specify either one specific layer:

-rl layer1

or leave get them all by using 1 as the flag. 0 renders the masterLayer. 

I've tried lots of combinations or

-rl layer1 layer2
-rl 1 layer1 layer2
-rl layer1:layer2 (which oddly does not error out)
etc

any thoughts?
