What is 'rushtop'?

This allows one to monitor the load status of an entire render farm, or select groups of machines via specifying hostnames or hostgroups on the command line.

In the Cpu and Ram bars, blue indicates a resource is in use, Green means unused. In the Cpu bar, red indicates kernel use, such as disk or network I/O. In the Swap bar, yellow indicates swap space has been reserved.

Hostnames will show in green if they are 'online' in rush (accepting jobs), or gray if they are 'offline' (not accepting jobs). e.g.

Using Rushtop

rushtop' from the command line, and the GUI should come up by default displaying all the processors, updating the screen once per second.

Rushtop Colors

Cpu: Blue indicates the amount of cpu used by user processes such as rendering. Red indicates the amount of cpu used by the operating system's overhead such as disk or network input/output. There is one bar per processor on the machine.
Ram: Blue indicates the amount of ram being used by all programs running on the machine.
Swap: Blue indicates the amount of swap space claimed on the machine. Green indicates unused/free swap. Orange indicates heavy swap activity that is probably preventing the machine from rendering efficiently.

Rushtop Command Line Options

The following options can be specified to control various aspects of how 'rushtop' operates:

Option	Description
`-s`	Changes the seconds between updates (default=1)
`-single`	Single cpu bar for machines (instead of per-core/per proc). When enabled, setting is remembered in the .irushrc file.
`-multi`	Multiple cpu bars for machines. (opposite of -single) When enabled, setting is remembered in the .irushrc file.
`-decay 1\|0`	enable/disable bar graph 'decay'
`-chevrons 1\|0`	enable/disable black+yellow chevrons for dead machines
`-nofork`	don't fork to background (unix only)
`-nosort`	don't sort hosts in alphabetical order
`-d`	debugging info to stdout
`-version`	show version info
`-help\|-h`	Command line help

You can limit the graph to show only particular machines by specifying hostnames or +hostgroups on the command line:

`rushtop`	*# monitor all rush hosts (default)*
`rushtop +linux`	*# monitor only machines in the '+linux' hostgroup*
`rushtop +linux +sgi`	*# monitor only machines in the '+linux' and '+sgi' hostgroups*
`rushtop tahoe huron`	*# monitor only hosts 'tahoe' and 'huron'*
