Phone Pole, near Vanowen/LAR
The white thing above the green fuse box is intriguing;
looks like an air filter. Maybe it prevents condensation
from forming inside the conduit, so it doesn't short out
the fuse box just below it? (Or as Fred B. points out,
it's more likely just an old electric meter box with the meter
removed, a white piece of plastic in place of the hole where
the meter was..!)
That gray handle is a manual air switch interrupter. Don't pull that one, baby. Opening that switch under full load will likely yield one hell of a fugging zap, and probably a rain of molten metal.
(Hey; "1776" -- The Declaration of Independence!)

Railroad Car, Terminal Island, Long Beach
Terminal Island is the large port of Long Beach.
Enormous 'dinosaur' cranes the size of tall buildings
load and unload shipping containers here.
Many cars get imported here; I guess they only have to move about 10 or 20 miles if the dealers are in Bellflower and South Gate.

Overgrown Lamp Pole, Carson
Near where the PCH and Alameda meet in Willmington,
this is the beginning of a large industrial section of Carson,
where many oil refineries are, shown in the next two photos.

Tank of "Something Flammable", Carson
This is probably oil. But you never really know what's in
some of these things. Sometimes its Ammonia, or some other
horribly deadly substance, which if it cracked open
would kill you instantly in a choking cloud if standing this close.

Oil Refinery, Carson
Hey, this digital camera takes pretty neat night time photos.
